What do you know about Storm Alert
Storm Alert is an adware or potentially unwanted program which keeps showing on user’s browser. Storm Alert adware claims that with Storm Alert you will be alerted about storms so you can be aware and prepared. However, it is not a useful application but an unwanted ads-supported platform to generate a lot of ads. Once your computer is infecetd with Storm Alert extension, it will pop up on your browser and try to convince you to install its application.
During installation of Storm Alert, you may receive additional offers such as a search toolbar. These offers are optional and you will be given the choice to ‘Accept’ or ‘Skip’ the offers. Search toolbar offers may include the option to change your default search, your home page and/or your new tab page. When you open the browser, you will be redirect to its search engine without your permission.
If you use its search provider, you will receive a lot of pop up ads, coupons, banners and sponsor links on the search results. Moreover, it may track your browsing history such as search keywords and display related pop up ads. It may also collect important personal information such as log-in password, email address, or financial data for marketing purpose. It is not safe to keep Storm Alert on your computer, you should remove it as soon as possible.

Method one: Manually remove Storm Alert
Step 1. Reset Internet Explorer by the following guide (take IE as an example):
Open Internet Explorer >> Click on Tools >> Click on Internet Options >> In the Internet Options window click on the Connections tab >> Then click on the LAN settings button>> Uncheck the check box labeled “Use a proxy server for your LAN” under the Proxy Server section and press OK.

Open Registry Editor by pressing Window+R keys together.(another way is clicking on the Start button and choosing Run option, then typing into Regedit and pressing Enter. )
Delete all the vicious registries as below:

Step 4- Clear all the cookies of your affected web browsers.
Since the tricky virus has the ability to use cookies for tracing and tracking the internet activity of users, it is suggested users to delete all the cookies before a complete removal.
Google Chrome:
Click on the “Tools” menu and select “Options”.
Click the “Under the Bonnet” tab, locate the “Privacy” section and Click the “Clear browsing data” button.
Select “Delete cookies and other site data” and clean up all cookies from the list.
Mozilla Firefox:
Click on Tools, then Options, select Privacy
Click “Remove individual cookies”
In the Cookies panel, click on “Show Cookies”
To remove a single cookie click on the entry in the list and click on the “Remove Cookie button”
To remove all cookies click on the “Remove All Cookies button”
Internet Explorer:
Open Internet explorer window
Click the “Tools” button
Point to “safety” and then click “delete browsing history”
Tick the “cookies” box and then click “delete”
